The PE will be involved in Test, extracting and analyzing Test Data, and driving the ICs and Modules to High Volume Test and Manufacture. The Product Engineering group has a far more technical approach to the PE role, and often influences design.

Senior Principal Analog (and RF) IC Designer

Our client is a fast growing startup that is designing Analog/RF on chip solutions for wireless transceiver power management. Their technology regulates the voltage in mobile wireless applications where battery conservation is key. They are developing a Micro-Resonator solution for voltage control that uses MEMs technology; it has superior performance and is integrated onto a Silicon chip…The Company is only about 5 years old, but very well funded…and making rapid progress…they will have revenues in 2012.

1) They are looking for a Senior Principal Analog IC Designer in Phoenix AZ, their primary design site. Designer will have experience in general Voltage reference and conditioning circuits for transceivers, like LDOs, Voltage references, bandgaps. This is someone used to working at ultra low noise and low current levels. The designer may have used a Low Noise (Crystal) Oscillator to generate frequency references for voltage control. Candidate will have designed in CMOS or BiCMOS.

2) They are also looking for a Senior Principal RF IC /Analog Designer who will contribute to the company’s Voltage reference and conditioning circuits for transceivers. Will have designed in CMOS or BiCMOS.

We are looking for experience with crystal oscillator, LC (resonant tank oscillator with inductor & capacitor) oscillator, VCO and fractional-N PLL design are elements needed. We are looking for a very senior designer with 8-10+ years of experience, and the ability to innovate, lead design projects, and mentor other engineers.

*In general, it is understood that the Analog IC Designer or RFIC Designer won’t have done what this startup does, which is novel technology; but they must come from the domains defined above, and must be senior 8-10+ years, a good team player, able to adapt what they know to the Company’s technology, and ideally able to mentor more junior engineers.

This position requires experience with RF/Microwave measurements and RF test instrumentation, ideally for Hybrid/chip and wire RF/Microwave circuits. Ability to write controller software in a Windows environment is optional. Requires ASEE (BSEE preferred) with 5 years experience in an RF Test for Development or Production testing environment. We need a BSEE/MSEE + 3-5 years plus experience designing High Power LDMOS or GaN Power Amplifier ICs /Transistors or High Power Amp modules for reference circuits. Company can be flexible on experience; from 3 years – if the junior candidate is sharp and self- sufficient- to a very seasoned candidate;

Prefer good fundamentals like; Impedance matching, Load Pull, Linearization, DOHERTY PA Design experience…the company uses ADS design tool. A background in Device modeling is a plus, if candidate has subsequent design experience. A successful candidate can come from design of PA IC, Module or full blown Base station PAs.
